Student Affairs
This section provides services to support
the student’s life at the university and help them realize their career
aspirations. It facilitates students social, personality and academic
growth and development through counseling and career guidance. The
counseling services are broadened to address the wide array of concerns
common with students and youth in the university today. To accomplish
this office of the Dean of students has trained peer counselors spread
across all the programs and distributed in the main students residential
places. This strategy helps to quickly identify students with problems
that require counseling. The office also maintains a close interaction
with members of the faculty where the students are registered to help
resolve problems that may arise at that level. The peer counselors are
frequently trained to keep abreast of any emerging issues in key areas
of concern for the youth like HIV/AIDS scourge and Alcohol and Drug
Abuse. This supplements the efforts of the University Aids Control Unit
(ACU)
